The Decatur Green Fest, hosted by Dogwood Alliance (previously the Dogwood Alliance Earth Day Festival) will kick off the 2010 Decatur Business Association's Concert on the Square series.  Sponsorship at this event will bring exposure and recognition to companies and their earth stewardship initiatives in partnership with one of the most exciting and innovative organizations in the environmental movement leading the effort to protect and restore endangered forests in the South.

This event will include:
* Live Music from 3pm - 10pm
* Green tasting of local organic produce and food by Five Seasons, Leon's Full Service, and many more
* Beer provided by Athens' microbrewery Terrapin Beer
* Exciting new organic beverages provided by Bionade
* Showcase of Equal Exchange and other fair traded products
* Green organizations and vendors presenting information and products.  (2009 : 58 exhibitors)
* Showing of artists who work with recycled materials
* KidZone - Children's activity area

Attendance:
The anticipated attendance is 1,000 people during the afternoon and an additional 1,000+ will join the festivities in the early evening.   The evening concert on the square averages over 1,000 in attendance.  The organizers expect that number to double with the addition of the Green Fest.
* Reach and interact with attendees from the City of Decatur as well as the Atlanta metro area who are in interested in "green" products, getting outdoors, live original music, and conservation.

Beneficiaries of the event:
Dogwood Alliance works to bring together the voices of thousands of individuals, local and regional grassroots partners, and national and international organizations to pursue win-win solutions that ensure the future of natural and native Southern forests as well as creating financial incentives for positive change by creating market demand for environmentally sound paper products.  The Dogwood Alliance has a new Carbon Canopy project that will be presented at the event.

The Decatur Preservation Alliance is a non-profit citizens' group whose mission is to connect the Decatur community through the preservation of its historic structures and green spaces.  Incorporated in 2000 to save the Old Depot, the DPA's current programs include the Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project, Woodlands Garden and the Decatur Cemetery.
